A little about me

Hi, I’m Carey. I’m a Relational Somatic Therapist & Integration Practitioner, and I also work with Energy Healing.

My work draws on training and studies across psychological, relational and somatic approaches, altered-state integration and energy medicine.

I work with people navigating trauma, chronic illness, life transitions, altered states and experiences that don’t always fit neatly into conventional boxes..

I’m not a psychologist, and I wouldn’t describe myself as a coach. I use the word therapist in the spirit of its Greek roots, therapeuein: to attend to, to care for. That comes closest to how I understand what I do.

I’m heart-centred, with two feet firmly on the ground. I bring curiosity, honesty and care to this work, alongside a strong commitment to consent, autonomy, scope, continued learning and responsible practice.

What Shaped My Work

I didn’t arrive here through a straight or particularly conventional path.

I’ve spent much of my life curious about people, the mind, consciousness, the body, emotions, relationships, spirituality, why we do what we do, and what actually helps us heal.

Living through complex trauma, adversity, and chronic illness led me through years of searching, questioning, different healing approaches and therapy. Finding the right therapeutic relationship changed the trajectory of my own healing. Being genuinely seen, heard, understood and challenged taught me that relationship doesn’t need to be perfect to be healing, and that being understood and being challenged aren’t opposites.

Along the way, I found my way more deeply into somatic and body-based work, holistic approaches, energy medicine and altered states, including my own experiences with psilocybin and ketamine. Some things helped enormously. Some didn’t. No single thing explained all of me.

Mind and body, relationships, history, environment, spirituality and the things we cannot easily explain can all be part of the picture.

I’m interested in the whole of human experience: what shapes us, what connects us, what brings us alive, what asks to be understood, and what may always remain a little mysterious.

My deepest learning has come from lived experience through more than twenty years of my own healing and recovery, and through the people who have met me there, walked beside me and, in ways large and small, helped me grow.

Maybe healing isn’t about becoming someone new, more evolved, or permanently healed. Maybe it's just learning to stay with ourselves through the pain and beauty of being human with more choice, more compassion, and a little less need to be anything other than who we are.
