Soma Energy Therapeutics

Energy and body are deeply connected; both can offer clues about what may be asking to be noticed.

A body-based approach bringing together energy work and therapeutic somatic touch. I work at the meeting place of energy and body, drawing from Eastern energetic traditions alongside Western understandings of the body..

What this is and how it may support you

By bringing together energy work, therapeutic touch and somatic practices, sessions may offer support with:

  • Stress & anxiety: encouraging relaxation, settling and a quieter internal state.

  • Pain & physical tension: complementary support for persistent discomfort, muscular tension and pain.

  • Body awareness & connection: developing greater awareness of sensation and what is happening within the body.

  • Emotional overwhelm: creating space for emotion, stress and grief when words may not be enough.

  • Rest & sleep: supporting deep rest when slowing down or switching off feels difficult.

  • Fatigue & depletion: gentle support during periods of tiredness or feeling depleted.

  • Grounding & regulation: supporting greater steadiness, presence and connection with the body.

The intention isn't to force change, but to create conditions that may support your own capacity for regulation, restoration and healing.

Soma Energy Work is an integrative practice bringing together energy healing, therapeutic somatic touch and body-based practices.

The energy healing side of my practice works with the biofield, including the energy field,  with influences from Reiki and other energetic traditions. The somatic side draws from therapeutic touch, nervous-system regulation, vagal practices and other body-based approaches.

I’m interested in where these perspectives meet. Western science understands the body through systems such as the nervous system, fascia and electrical activity, while Eastern traditions describe energetic pathways and subtle systems. I see these as different ways of understanding the same living system.

Sessions may involve working with the hands both on and around the body, using therapeutic touch alongside energetic practice, attunement and body awareness.

Touch is always consensual, and consent remains ongoing throughout.

Soma Energy Work is intended to support the body's natural capacity for regulation, restoration and healing, rather than treating the body as a passive recipient of healing.

MY APPROACH

Body, Mind, Energy & Spirit

I don't see body, mind, energy and spirit as separate parts of a person. They overlap and influence one another, and my work makes room for all of them.

Every session begins with conversation about how you are, what has been happening, and what you are bringing with you that day. From there, we may move into energy work, somatic touch or other practices depending on what feels useful.

I work intuitively and through attunement, paying attention to what you tell me alongside shifts in energy, sensation, breath, movement and emotion. I don't follow the same sequence every time; the session develops in response to you and what emerges.

Intuition can guide where I pay attention, but it doesn't tell me what your experience means. That remains yours.

Understanding Soma Energy

There are many ways to understand energy. It may be experienced spiritually or through traditional energetic ideas, but also through the body as sensation, movement, charge, emotion and felt experience. Soma Energy Work makes room for both.

I sometimes work with traditional energetic maps such as chakras and the subtle bodies. For me, they offer orientation rather than certainty, a way of noticing patterns and bringing attention to what may be asking to be noticed. You don't need to believe in them, and they don't determine what an experience means.

I don't tend to use the language of energy being “blocked” or needing to be cleared. Something may feel held, constricted, active, quiet or simply different. Rather than deciding what it means or trying to remove it, I prefer to stay curious about what is present.

This is where Soma comes together for me: energy, body, psychology and the spiritual can each offer a different way of listening to the same human experience.
